The Love School makes history!
If there had to be just one word to describe the success of the Love School event which took place last night, then there is not one adjective which could do it the justice it deserves. However, ‘phenomenal’ would have to be the closest bet.
The excitement that had been building up for two months – which felt like a lifetime – was so intense, that 11,000 people packed inside Wembley Arena was sure to set off fireworks. And what an immensely successful event it was. The Love School surpassed absolutely everyone’s expectations, bar a few minor sound glitches.
The expressions on everyone’s faces, the feedback and the reception of the event showed nothing, other than amazement. Even Wembley’s team were shocked at how well the UCKG volunteers were organised, having previously feared having another 100 helpers on hand.
And, if the atmosphere inside was to anything to go by, then people outside were definitely feeling the love before the event had even started. Attendees were ecstatic as they waited for their families and guests; sharing hugs and kisses when they had arrived.
The pre-Love School entertainment
ChrissyB, Robert and Chris Browne served as excellent presenters, keeping the crowd entertained and engrossed from the start of the show until Renato and Cris took over. With a ton of prizes to give away, section A3 seemed to be on a roll as the majority of winners were called from that area of the arena.
Robert managed to get the whole of Wembley up on their feet, singing along to Bruno Mars’ ‘Just the Way You Are’.
The VYG performances and DKW Sing-Off were a great way to ensure that the audience remained hyped before the Love School started. The youth performers were energetic and full of life with their anthem, ‘Patiently Wait’ and ‘Live Life to the Fullest’ performances.
The DKW Sing Off was a spectacular moment for Priscilla Okpara who made it through to the finals with Jude, after beating 10 other contestants with her comparable rendition of Listen by Beyoncé. Her powerful voice won her the title of Sing-Off winner along with a number of prizes – a guest spot on the star-studded Richard Andersone Show, airplay on the Explosive Unsigned Radio Show and a complimentary ‘in studio’ photo shoot with prestigious London photographer Ian Clark.
So this is love
What better opportunity for another UCKG proposal?
Joseph Massally surprised not only the audience but, also, his girlfriend of one year and eight months, Keeley-Rose Auguste.
First James Ahanonu asked his girlfriend Desreen Cargill to marry him at the Nothing to Lose book launch back in March, and now another proposal at an event that definitely goes on the list of top 10 events in UCKG history!
These guys sure do know how to pick their moments.
2013 is proving to be quite a year!
And the class begins…
There is no way you could have hoped to gain the kind of knowledge that teachers, Renato and Cris shared yesterday evening, anywhere else. Every word that came out of their mouths were precious pearls of pure wisdom. You had to have your ears pricked up for fear of missing one word.
The meeting wasn’t at all how people thought it would be. It was better. Everyone knows that you learn more when you’re having fun, and the class was as entertaining as it was inspiring. Renato and Cris captivated the audience from the word ‘go’, and at every moment, the crowd were in fits of laughter, clapping and cheering in agreement or just in plain awe.
The event did not disappoint. Everyone got what they attended for – tips on how to have a happy relationship. The basis of the lesson focused on these three points:
1. Love God
2. Love yourself
3. Love your neighbour (in other words, your partner)
The first two relationships are what guarantee the success of the third. So simple and yet no one would have guessed it.
It’s not over…
It was a shame when the event came to an end, but then came the announcement of the ‘7 Steps to a Better You’ – a course where Renato and Cris will teach people how to fulfil the second step – starting on Sunday, 29th September, at every UCKG HelpCentre in the country. The cheers that arose from the audience were inevitable.
The day was truly unforgettable! It was another event which has become a landmark for the HelpCentre and has proven that they can do whatever they set their minds to.
People told them that filling 11,000 seats couldn’t be done. They were wrong.
A special Thank You goes to everyone who’ve worked extremely hard to make the Love School event a major success. You’ve made a part of history!
